Cookie Policy

The short version
Like most websites, trymutt.com uses cookies — small files stored on your device — to make the site work, understand how visitors use it, and show relevant ads on social media. This page explains what we use, why, and how to turn things off if you'd rather not be tracked.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or phone when you visit. Some cookies stay only as long as you're on the site. Others stick around for a while — minutes, days, or months — so the site remembers things about you on your next visit.
Cookies are common across the internet. They aren't viruses or malware. But they do collect information, and you have the right to know what's collected and to say no.
We use both first-party cookies (set by trymutt.com) and third-party cookies (set by services we use, like Meta and Klaviyo).
What we use cookies for
We group our cookies into four buckets:
1. Essential cookies
These are required for the site to function. Without them, you can't add things to your cart, log in, or check out.
- Cart and session management (Shopify)
- Login and account security
- Fraud prevention at checkout
- Remembering your country and language settings
You can't turn these off without breaking the site.
2. Analytics cookies
These help us understand how visitors use the site — which pages they read, where they get stuck, what's working and what isn't. The data is aggregated. We don't see what you specifically did.
- Shopify Analytics — built-in store traffic and sales data
- Microsoft Clarity — anonymized session recordings and heatmaps showing how visitors move through the site
3. Marketing cookies
These let us show Mutt ads to people who've visited the site, and measure whether those ads work.
- Meta Pixel — used to show Mutt on Facebook and Instagram, and to measure ad performance
- Klaviyo — used to send relevant emails (like an abandoned cart reminder) and measure email engagement
4. Reviews and integrations
- Reviews app — stores cookies so verified reviews can be displayed and so reviewers can return to leave a review
A summary
| Cookie type | Purpose | Provider |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | Cart, login, checkout, fraud prevention | Shopify |
| Analytics | Traffic and behavior insights | Shopify Analytics, Microsoft Clarity |
| Marketing | Ads, retargeting, email | Meta Pixel, Klaviyo |
| Reviews | Display and submit reviews | Reviews app provider |
Your choices
You're in control of cookies on your device. There are a few ways to manage them:
The cookie banner. When you first visit trymutt.com, you'll see a banner letting you accept cookies. You can dismiss it without accepting if you prefer.
Your browser. Every modern browser lets you block or delete cookies. Look in your settings under "Privacy" or "Cookies." You can choose to block third-party cookies, clear cookies on exit, or block specific sites.
Blocking essential cookies will break checkout and login. Blocking analytics and marketing cookies is fine — the site will still work normally.
Opt out at the platform level. You can also opt out of tracking directly with the providers we use:
- Meta: facebook.com/help/568137493302217
- Microsoft Clarity: privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement
- Klaviyo: Click "unsubscribe" in any email, or email us at support@trymutt.com
"Do Not Track" signals. Most browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal to websites. We currently don't respond to those signals, because there's no agreed industry standard for what they should do. We'll revisit this if a standard emerges.
California residents
If you're a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) — including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to ask us to delete it, and the right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.
We don't sell personal information in the traditional sense. But under California's broader definition of "sharing," our use of advertising cookies (like the Meta Pixel) may qualify.
To opt out, email support@trymutt.com with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Info." We'll process your request within 15 business days.
EU and UK visitors
If you're visiting from the EU, UK, or another region with strict consent rules, you can refuse all non-essential cookies by:
- Dismissing the cookie banner without accepting
- Adjusting your browser settings to block third-party cookies before browsing the site
- Using browser extensions that block trackers (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger)
We're working to roll out a more granular consent banner that lets you accept or reject each cookie category individually. Until that's live, the options above are how you can opt out.
Changes to this policy
When we add or remove tools, or change how we use cookies, we'll update this page. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
